Downloading the Client Application

Downloading the Client Application

You can download the Database Download Manager client application from the Database Download Manager web page. You can download two versions of the client application. The client application that you choose depends on whether you will download data for the 5.x verification engine, for the 6.x verification engine, or for both engines.
You must install version 8 of the Java SE Runtime Environment on the machine on which you run the client application that contains 5.x data only. You must install version 11 of the Java SE Runtime Environment on the machine on which you run the client application that contains both 5.x and 6.x data. Configure the Java security settings to grant the client application the necessary permissions to download files.
The client application communicates over port 80 and 443. You must configure the necessary permissions to grant the client application access to these ports.
  1. In the Database Download Manager web page, click the
    Other Downloads
     tab.
    The
    Other Downloads
     page appears.
  2. Click the
    ADM Client (Version 5 data only)
     or
    ADM Client (Version 5 and 6)
     link.
    • If you will download reference data for a version 5.x engine exclusively, click
      ADM Client (Version 5 data only)
      .
    • If you will download reference data for a version 6.x engine, or if you will download data for both version 5.x and version 6.x, click
      ADM Client (Version 5 and 6)
      .
  3. The application downloads in a compressed file.
    Click
    Save
     or
    Save As
     if prompted by your browser.
After you download, extract the contents of the zip file. The contents include a jar file that you use to run the client application. The jar file name is
Downloadtool.jar
 in client applications that download 5.x reference data and
Downloadtool2.jar
 in applications that can download reference data for versions 5.x and 6.x.
