SAP PowerDesigner Configuration Properties

SAP PowerDesigner Configuration Properties

Update the configuration properties when you create or edit an SAP PowerDesigner resource. The properties vary based on the SAP PowerDesigner version.
The following table describes the configuration properties:
Property
Version
Description
Agent URL
All
Host name and port number of the Metadata Manager Agent. You can use the Metadata Manager Agent installed on any machine.
Source system version
All
Version of SAP PowerDesigner to which you want to connect.
Always use latest source files
All
Metadata Manager uses the metadata source file in the location you provide each time you load the resource. If you enable this option, the path to the file must include an absolute path that is accessible from the Metadata Manager Agent machine. If you disable this option, Metadata Manager copies the metadata source file to the Metadata Manager application directory when you finish configuring the resource. Each time you load the resource, Metadata Manager uses the copied metadata source file in the Metadata Manager application directory.
Apply binary characters filter
SAP PowerDesigner PDM 7.5 to 16.x
Removes binary characters that are not valid from the PDM XML import file. The PowerDesigner tool might generate XML files with binary characters that cannot be processed in an XML file. Select one of the following options:
  • True. Remove binary characters that are not valid. Metadata Manager removes the binary characters that are not valid before it extracts metadata from the file.
  • False. Do not remove the characters that are not valid.
Default is true.
Import UDPs
SAP PowerDesigner PDM 7.5 to 16.x
Defines how Metadata Manager imports property definitions and values for user-defined properties (UDPs) from SAP PowerDesigner. A user-defined property is a property definition object that has a default value. The object to which the UDP applies can have an explicit value or no assigned value. If it has no assigned value, SAP PowerDesigner assigns the default value of the property definition to the UDP.
Select one of the following options to specify how to import property definitions and values:
  • As metadata. Imports explicit values as Property Value objects. This option keeps the default value on the Property Type. Implicit values are not imported.
  • As metadata, migrate default values. Imports explicit and implicit values as Property Value objects.
  • In description, migrate default values. Appends the property name and value to the object description property for both explicit and implicit values.
  • Both, migrate default values. Imports the UDP value as metadata and in the object description property.
Append volumetric information to the description field
SAP PowerDesigner PDM 7.5 to 16.x
Imports volumetric information and appends it to the description property. Specify one of the following values:
  • True. Appends volumetric information to the description property.
  • False. Ignores volumetric information.
Default is false.
Remove text formatting
SAP PowerDesigner PDM 7.5 to 16.x
Remove Rich Text Formatting (RTF) from annotations. SAP PowerDesigner versions 7.0 to 7.5 store annotations as plain text, while versions 8 and later use RTF. Specify one of the following values:
  • True. Select for version 7.0 to 7.5.
  • False. Select for version 8 and later.
Default is true.
Reverse role names
SAP PowerDesigner PDM 7.5 to 16.x
Reverses the role names for each relationship in the model. Specify one of the following values:
  • True. Swaps the role names.
  • False. Does not swap the role names.
Default is false.
Import disconnected objects
SAP PowerDesigner PDM 6.1.x
Imports disconnected objects in SAP PowerDesigner.
In SAP PowerDesigner, you can delete the symbol that represents an object in a view without deleting the object. As a result, a model might contain invisible objects that are inconsistent with other objects.
Specify one of the following values:
  • True. Imports disconnected objects and places them in the main package.
  • False. Ignores disconnected objects.
Default is false.
Encoding
SAP PowerDesigner PDM 6.1.x
Code page for the PDM file that you exported from SAP PowerDesigner.
Auto assign connections
All
Metadata Manager configures connection assignments to relational database resource types during the resource load. If you disable this option, configure connection assignments in the resource properties after you create the resource.
File
All
Imports the PDM XML file.
