Step 4. Get the Icons

Step 4. Get the Icons

After you have the image mapping information, you can get the icons for the model and the groups and classes in the model. If you do not want to use custom icons, you can skip this step.
To use a custom icon for the model, find an image file, save it with the icon name you specified in the plug-in definition file, and copy it to the icon directory that you specified in the plug-in definition file. The model icon can be of any common image type such as BMP, GIF, JPG, or PNG.
To use a custom icon for a group or class, find an image file and save it with the name specified in the image mapping file. Then copy the image file to the icon directory that you specified in the plug-in definition file. A group or class icon must have the name and file type that is specified in the image mapping file.
For example, the model that you create contains a class called Conditions. In the image mapping file, the Conditions class is mapped to Filter.gif.
To find an icon for the Conditions class, perform the following tasks:
  1. Search the internet for "conditions icons" or "filter icons."
Alternatively, you can search for a similar icon in the Metadata Manager images directory:
    <Informatica services installation directory>\services\MetadataManagerService\mmapps\mm\images
  2. Save the image as Filter.gif.
  3. Copy the Filter.gif file to the icon directory that you specified in the plug-in definition file.
Repeat this process for all groups and classes in the model for which you want to use custom icons.
