Behavior Changes (10.0)

Behavior Changes (10.0)

This section describes the behavior changes for version 10.0.

External IDs

Effective in version 10.0, Data Validation Option implemented the following changes related to external IDs:
  • If you copy or import an object with a duplicate external ID, Data Validation Option adds a suffix to the external ID. Previously, if an object with a duplicate external ID was copied or imported, Data Validation Option would leave the external ID field for the copied or imported object blank. You would need to manually enter the object's external ID.
  • If you upgrade objects that have duplicate external IDs, the test fails with an error. You must manually update the objects to have unique external IDs.

Metadata Import

Effective in version 10.0, if you import metadata from a PowerCenter repository that is named differently from the PowerCenter repository in current Data Validation Option environment, Data Validation Option will do one of the following:
  • If you have only one PowerCenter repository in your current environment, Data Validation Option will automatically change the name of the source repository to that of the destination PowerCenter repository.
  • If you have more than one PowerCenter repository, Data Validation Option will list the available PowerCenter repository names and prompt you to select one PowerCenter repository name.
Previously, if source and destination PowerCenter repository names did not match, Data Validation Option would display and error, and the metadata import process would stop.

Expression Editor

Effective in version 10.0, the
Aggregate View
expression editor in Data Validation Option shows all functions.
Previously, the
Aggregate View
expression editor only showed aggregate functions.

Jasper Reports

Effective in PowerCenter version 9.6.1 HotFix 4, Informatica deprecated the Reporting and Dashboards Service. Informatica will drop support for the Reporting and Dashboards Service in a future release.
If the Reporting and Dashboards Service was available before you upgraded to PowerCenter version 9.6.1 HotFix 4, you can continue to use the Reporting and Dashboards Service.
If the Reporting and Dashboards Service was unavailable before you upgraded to PowerCenter version 9.6.1 HotFix 4, you cannot create the Reporting and Dashboards Service. Informatica recommends that you begin using a third-party reporting tool before they drop support. If you used JasperReports to create reports, you can purchase a license from JasperSoft to continue running the reports when Informatica drops support. You can download and install your own version of the recommended JasperReports Server 4.7.0 to run the Data Validation Option reports.
If you install PowerCenter version 9.6.1 HotFix 4, you cannot create a Reporting and Dashboards Service. You must use a third-party reporting tool to run PowerCenter reports.

Informatica PowerCenter Using PowerCenter Reports Guide
