Netport Jobs Overview

You can associate JCL streams, called netport jobs
, to specific ports to access a source or target in certain situations.

Use a netport job in the following situations:

Access a source or target through a non-PowerExchange module such as IMS DLIBATCH.

For IMS access, the IMS ODBA access method is not supported with netport jobs.

Avoid excessive wait times during session processing. For example, if the data is on tape, use a netport job to avoid significant delays that result from tape mounts.

Process a generation data group (GDG). In this case, special considerations and configuration requirements apply. See Using Netport Jobs for Generation Data Sets.

Access IDMS data when full user ID checking is required, as when the SECURITY statement is set to (2,x) in the DBMOVER configuration file.

To link a netport job to a port, you must define a pair of NETPORT and LISTENER statements in the DBMOVER configuration file.
