Manage Projects and Folders

Manage Projects and Folders

You can perform tasks to manage projects and folders in the
Projects
workspace.
You can perform the following tasks on a project or folder:
Create a project or folder.
Create a project to store data objects and assets in the Analyst tool. You can create folders in projects.
From the Actions menu in the
Projects
panel, click
New
Project
or click
New
Folder
and enter a project or folder name or optional description.
Duplicate a project or folder.
Duplicate a project or folder within a project to use the same contents to perform different tasks. For example, duplicate the Customers project that contains customer address tables to use the same tables for a Customer_Accounts project.
Select the project or folder that you want to duplicate. You cannot duplicate a project in another project with the same name. You cannot duplicate a folder within a project to another folder in a different project. Duplicating a project does not duplicate the user permissions on the project. The owner of the project gets all permissions by default on the duplicate project.
From the Actions menu in the
Projects
panel, click
Duplicate
and enter a project or folder name or optional description.
Rename a project or folder.
Rename a project or folder after you create it to change the project or folder name to fit the particular business use or naming convention. Select the project or folder that you want to rename.
From the Actions menu in the
Projects
panel, click
Edit
and enter another project or folder name.
Edit a project or folder description.
Edit the description of a project or folder after you create it. Select the project or folder that you want to edit.
From the Actions menu in the
Projects
panel, click
Edit
and enter a project or folder description.
Delete a project or folder.
Delete a project or folder when you no longer need it. Select the project or folder that you want to delete. Before you delete a project or folder, verify that the contents are not used in other projects or folders.
From the Actions menu in the
Projects
panel, click
Delete
.
Refresh a project or folder.
Refresh the contents of a project or folder to view the latest contents and project permissions.
From the Actions menu in the
Projects
panel, click
Refresh
.
Move a folder.
Move folders within another folder in a project to organize project content into a hierarchy of folders. You cannot move a folder into one of its own child folders in a project. Select the folder that you want to move.
From the Actions menu in the
Projects
panel, click
Move
.
View or assign permissions on a project.
View or assign project permissions to users or groups. Select the project that you want to assign or view permissions on.
View permissions on a project in the
Direct Permissions
panel.
Assign permissions on a project from the
Edit Permissions
dialog box.
