Migrating to a Different Database

Migrating to a Different Database

If the domain configuration repository database type or version is no longer supported, you must migrate the repository to a different database. Migrate the repository in the previous Informatica instance before you upgrade the domain.
In most cases, you can run the Informatica Upgrade Advisor to review the upgrade support before you upgrade. If you want to validate migrating to a different database, it is recommended to run i10Pi available from the Informatica installer. For more information about the i10Pi configuration, see the
Informatica Installation Guide
.
For example, if the domain configuration repository is in a Sybase ASE 15.0.3 database, migrate the repository to a Sybase ASE 15.7 database.
Suppose you have the domain configuration repository on a Microsoft SQL Server database but wish to upgrade to the newly support PostgreSQL database. Run the i10Pi available from the Informatica installer to verify the supported upgrade validation for a different database before you can migrate the repository to the PostgreSQL database.
For more information about product requirements and supported platforms, see the Product Availability Matrix on Informatica Network: https://network.informatica.com/community/informatica-network/product-availability-matrices
  1. Run the i10Pi available from the Informatica installer to check the supported upgrade validation for a different database.
  2. Verify that you have shut down the domain.
  3. Verify that you have backed up the domain configuration database tables to a file with the infasetup BackupDomain command.
  4. Create a database schema and a user account in a supported database.
  5. Restore the domain configuration in the backup file to the specified database schema with the infasetup RestoreDomain command.
  6. When you upgrade a gateway node, select the
Allow changes to the node host name and port number
option. When you select this option, you can configure the gateway node to connect to the new domain configuration repository database. All gateway nodes must have a connection to the domain configuration repository to retrieve and update domain configuration. When you upgrade a worker node, clear the
Allow changes to the node host name and port number
    option.
