Address Validator Port Reference

Address Validator Port Reference

Country Name

Country Name

Input and output ports that contain the name of the country that the address specifies.
The Country Name ports contain the English-language version of the name.

Country Name Usage

Select a Country Name input port when the input address contains the country name in a single field.
Select a Country Name output port to add the country name to the output address record.
Consider the following guidelines when you use Country Name ports:
  • If you use the Country Name input port with a Complete Address input port, select the ports from the same input group. Select the Country Name port and the Complete Address port from the Multiline group. Or, select the Country Name port and the Complete Address port from the Single-Line group.
  • An address can deliver to a single country. If an input address specifies multiple country names, the address might identify a province or a territory as a country. For example, address validation treats Puerto Rico as a state-equivalent territory in the United States and not as a country. Use a Province port to read or write the name "Puerto Rico."
  • Mail carriers prefer ISO country abbreviation data to country name data. Use an ISO abbreviation output port instead of a Country Name output port.
  • The Address Validator transformation writes all words in a country name to a single port.
  • If the address contains country name and country abbreviation data, the country abbreviation data takes precedence. The Address Validator transformation gives priority to Country ISO3 Char port data.
