Address Validator Port Reference

Address Validator Port Reference

Complete Address Ports

Complete Address Ports

Input and output ports that can read or write a complete postal address in the format that the local mail carrier recognizes. A Complete Address port reads or writes the address data in a single data field. An address that uses a single data field is also known as a single-line address.
You can perform single-line address verification on addresses from any country for which Informatica provides address reference data. You can configure the Address Validator transformation to validate single-line addresses in batch, interactive, and suggestion list modes.
When you submit addresses on the Complete Address port in batch mode, the Address Validator transformation returns a single address for each input address. When you submit an address on the Complete Address port in interactive or suggestion list mode, the transformation can return multiple address suggestions from the reference data for the address.
Complete Address data does not include data that enhances deliverability, such as barcode data.

Complete Address Usage

Select a Complete Address input port to read a complete postal address from a single field.
Select the Complete Address output port to write a complete postal address to a single field.
Consider the following guidelines when you use Complete Address ports:
  • Select a Complete Address input port from the Multiline group when the input address contains delimiters. Select a Complete Address input port from the Single-Line group when the input address does not contain delimiters.
  • When you select the Complete Address port from the Single-Line group, you can run the transformation in batch, interactive, and suggestion list modes. When you select the Complete Address port from the Multiline group, you can run the transformation in all modes.
  • Single-line validation requires fast completion reference data in all validation modes. Install the fast completion reference data for the country that the address specifies in addition to any batch or interactive data that you require.
  • The Complete Address output port may combine or reorder data elements and may change the case of one or more data elements.
  • Do not select a Complete Address input port if you also select a Formatted Address Line input port. A Complete Address port contains the same data as the set of Formatted Address Line ports.
  • Address validation can return results for a partial input address in suggestion list mode. To provide full address responses in batch or interactive mode, address validation requires a complete or almost-complete input address. For example, address validation can add a post code to an otherwise complete address in batch or interactive mode.
  • When you select a Complete Address input port in suggestion list mode, you can optionally select the Country Name port. Select the Complete Address input port and the Country name input port from the same port group. Otherwise, do not select any other port when you select the Complete Address input port in suggestion list mode.

Input Port Considerations

If you select the Complete Address port from the Multiline group, address validation uses the delimiter that you select to parse the values in the input string.
If you select the Complete Address port from the Single-Line group, address validation reads the input string values in the order that the local mail carrier expects.

Single-Line Address Structure

Address validation identifies the address elements in a single-line address based on their position in the address structure. When you select the Complete Address port from the Single-Line group, you must enter the elements in the correct sequence. For optimum results, enter as many elements as possible in the input address.
The following table shows examples of the address element order from around the world:
