Upgrade Informatica Platform Resources

Upgrade Informatica Platform Resources

If you created an Informatica Platform resource that extracts metadata from an Informatica application, you must upgrade the resource. To upgrade the resource, you either re-create the resource or configure the resource to use the command line utilities.
When you upgrade PowerCenter, the Data Integration Service and Model Repository Service are also upgraded. But when you upgrade only the Metadata Manager, the Data Integration Service and Model Repository Service are not upgraded by default. You can upgrade the services in the Administrator tool, if necessary.
You upgrade the Informatica Platform resource differently based on whether you upgraded the services on which the application is based:
You upgraded PowerCenter.
If you upgraded the services on which the application is based, you must re-create the resource after upgrade. After you create the new resource, you can purge and delete the old resource.
You upgraded only the Metadata Manager.
If you did not upgrade the services on which the application is based, you must configure the resource to use the command line utilities.
To configure the resource to use the command line utilities, perform the following steps:
  1. Contact Informatica Global Customer Support to get the Command Line Utilities zip file for the version you upgrade to.
  2. Extract the files to a directory that the Metadata Manager Service can access.
For best performance, extract the files to a directory on the machine that runs the Metadata Manager Service. If you extract the files to a different machine, the Metadata Manager Service can take several minutes to access the directory.
  3. Edit the resource and configure the
    <current_version> Command Line Utilities Directory
    property.
Set the property to the directory where you installed the command line utilities, for example,
    C:\Informatica\1041_CLU
    .
  4. In Metadata Manager, load the resource.
For more information about creating Informatica Platform resources and installing the command line utilities for Informatica Platform resources, see the "Data Integration Resources" chapter in the
Metadata Manager Administrator Guide
