Data Set Permissions

Data Set Permissions

Assign permissions to a data set to control the level of access to the data set.
When you run the plan that creates the data set, you become the owner of the data set. A data set owner and the domain administrator can add users and user groups and assign the required level of access. You can access data sets based on the permissions that you have. If you do not have the required permissions, you cannot open data sets that appear in search results.
Data sets have the following levels of permission:
  • Read
  • Write
  • Execute
To perform a task that uses a data set, you must also have the minimum required level of privileges as a TDM user.
The following table lists the permission levels, the tasks that you can perform with each level, and the minimum required privileges for each task:

  • Edit the description and tags of the data set.
  • Classify tables in a data set.
  • Edit, delete, and add data in the tables in a data set.
  • Add and edit tags to data in a data set.
  • Delete a data set.
  • Perform Fill Cell jobs in data coverage tasks
  • Create a data set subset plan.
  • View Data Set
  • View Data in Data Set
  • Manage Data Set
  • Manage Data in Data Set
Execute
  • Open and view the data set.
  • Monitor logs for the data set.
  • View the data in tables in the data set
  • Reset a data set.

The data set owner and the administrator can lock and unlock a data set. You cannot edit or reset a locked data set.
