Adding Guide Areas to Salesforce Pages

This topic describes how you add Guide Designer Wizards to a user's Salesforce Home page.

Adding a Guide Area to the Home Page

  1. Open the Setup menu in the upper right corner of Salesforce. From the displayed page, select
    App Setup > Customize > Home > Home Page Layouts
    . Both of these are indicated in the following figure.
  2. Click
    Edit
    for to make changes to your home page. You may have more than one page. In the Edit Home Layout page, go to the
    Select Wide Components to Show
    area, and check the
    Guide Designer Wizards
    checkbox. Click
    Next

  3. Place the Guide Designer Wizards component in the position where it should display on the page. When you're done, click
    Save
    .
After adding the Guide Designer Wizards component, an area displays for all users who see this page. On a PC or Mac, users do not see wizards whose Run on setting is set to
Smart Phone
. Similarly, smart phone users do not see wizards whose
Run on
setting is
Desktop/Tablet
.

Adding Guides to Salesforce Pages

This topic describes how you install a guides area on page; that is, this how you install a guide area on all pages except for the home page.
  1. Select
    "your Name" > Setup
    on any page. From the displayed page, select
    App Setup > Customize > Home > Home Page Layouts
    . Both of these are indicated in the following figure.

  2. Select Visualforce Pages. Within the area on the right, drag Section to the place where you want the guide to appear.

  3. Set the section's attributes by filling in the displayed dialog.

  4. Drag the guide to this newly created Guides area.

  5. Save your changes and you're done. This
    guides area
    will now appear on all Case pages.
