Updating the Searchable Field Properties

Updating the Searchable Field Properties

After you index your data, if you update some of the properties of a field, the indexes become outdated. You must run the Initially Index Smart Search Data batch job to update the indexes.
The following table lists the field properties and their updated values that require reindexing:
Property
Updated Value
searchable
enabled
displayable
enabled
filterable
enabled
facet
enabled
fuzzy
enabled or disabled
suggester
enabled
language
Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or English
If you disable the following properties for a field, some of the indexes might become outdated and irrelevant:
  • searchable
  • displayable
  • filterable
  • facet
  • suggester
The outdated indexes can affect the performance of the search requests. You can run the Initially Index Smart Search Data batch job to clean the outdated indexes and improve the performance of the search requests. The Batch Viewer tool of the MDM Hub Console displays a warning icon for the table that requires reindexing after you update its field properties or add a field to it.
The following table lists the Batch Viewer icons that indicate the status of the indexes:
Icon
Description
Indicates that the indexes of the tables are up-to-date.
Indicates that some of the indexes are outdated and irrelevant.
You can run the Initially Index Smart Search Data batch job to reindex the data and remove all the outdated indexes.
