Starting the Client Application

Starting the Client Application

Before you can use the Database Download Manager client application, you must download and extract the application from the Database Download Manager web page. The files that you extract include the executable file for the client.
  1. Double-click the executable file to start the application.
    • If you installed the client for 5.x reference data, the executable file is
      Downloadtool.jar
      .
    • If you installed the client for 6.x reference data, the executable file is
      Downloadtool2.jar
      .
    The Database Download Manager client login window appears.
  2. Enter your Informatica Passport user name and password. If you want Database Download Manager to save your credentials, select

  3. Click
    Login
    .
  4. Version 5.x applications: select your local or preferred Address Verification version, and click
    Select and Set as Default
    . The application will use the version as the default version for future sessions.
    The Database Download Manager client application window appears.
    If you run
    Downloadtool.jar
    , the client application displays a single set of options that you use for version 5.x reference data. If you run
    Downloadtool2.jar
    , the client application displays options for version 5.x and version 6.x.
  5. Version 6.x applications: choose the verification engine for which you will download data.
    • To download data for the 5.x engine, select the
      AV5
      tab.
    • To download data for the 6.x engine, select the
      AV6
      tab.
When you start the application, the Database Download Manager adds the following files to the directory to which you extracted the file:
  • config.properties
  • log.html
When the Database Download Manager client is open, log.html remains locked for editing. The Database Download Manager client releases the log file when you close the application.
