Viewing Data Overview

Viewing Data Overview

You can run a mapping, view profile results, view source data, preview data for a transformation, run an SQL query, preview web service messages, or view dependencies on an object.
Use the following views to manipulate and view data and mappings:
Mapping Editor view
Use the mapping editor to run mappings and view profile results. Run a mapping to move output from sources to targets and transform data. You can run a mapping from the command line or from the
Run
dialog box.
Data Viewer view
Use the
Data Viewer
view to view source data, preview data for a transformation, run an SQL query, or preview web service messages.
Before you can view data, you must select a default Data Integration Service if the domain includes more than one service.
You can also add other Data Integration Services to use when you view data.
You can create configurations to control settings that the Developer tool applies when you view data.
You can preview data within a mapping that runs on either the Data Integration Service or the Spark engine. You can choose sources and transformations as preview points in a mapping.
The Data Integration Service determines whether to run the job in the native environment or on the Spark engine based on the preview point. The preview point is the object in a mapping that you choose to view data for. For more information about data preview on the Spark engine see the
Data Engineering Integration User Guide
.
The maximum number of rows you can preview in the Data Viewer is 100,000.
When you view data in the
Data Viewer
view, you can export the data to a file. You can also access logs that show log events.
Object Dependencies view
Use the
Object Dependencies
view to view object dependencies when you view, modify, or delete Model repository objects.
