Configuring Classes

Configuring Classes

You can create, edit, or delete classes for custom models. When you create a class, you select the level in the model hierarchy where you want to create the class and configure the class properties. You can edit and delete classes and change the location of the class in the model hierarchy.
The following table describes the class properties that you can configure:
Property
Description
Class Name
Name of the class. Do not use the INPUT or OUTPUT reserved words as the class name. The PowerCenter workflow fails to generate.
Description
Description for the class.
Group Name
Name of the group under which metadata objects of this class appear in the metadata catalog.
Select a group name when you create a class. After you create the class, you cannot edit the group name.
Icon File Name
Name of the graphic file you want to use as the icon for the class. The icon appears in the Model navigator for the class and in the metadata catalog for any objects based on the class.
You must place the graphic file in the following location:
<Informatica installation directory>\
services\MetadataManagerService\mmapps\mm\images
Show in Lineage
Enables data lineage for metadata objects of this class. If you do not enable this property, Metadata Manager does not display data lineage for metadata objects of this class. Default is disabled.
