Plan your DB2 for i5/OS CDC environment before starting change capture.

When determining how to implement a change data capture environment, consider the following questions:

Do you need to make changes available at specific intervals in batch mode or on a continual basis?

What are the backup and recovery requirements?

From which journal receivers do changes need to captured? Where do these journal receivers reside?

If you plan to use CDC to maintain a target data warehouse or data mart, what are the business requirements for delivering change data to the target?

How will you materialize the target tables or files before starting CDC?
