Overview

In Dynamic Data Masking version 9.8.4, the default masking functionality is a new functionality that enhances the previous masking functionality in multiple ways. To apply masking, the new default masking functionality modifies some SQL statements in a different way than in previous versions, which used the old masking functionality by default.

The following table shows the differences between versions and masking functionalities:

DDM 9.8.3 and previous	Default.	Enabled by setting the JVM property - Drules.mask.new=true in the jvm.params file
DDM 9.8.4 +	Enabled by setting the JVM property -Drules.mask.new=false in the jvm.params file.	Default.
