The versions of business entities and their relationships are defined in terms of their effective periods. Timeline provides two dimensional visibility into data based on effective periods and history, and equips you with the ability to track past, present, and future changes to data.

You can enable timeline for base objects through the MDM Hub console. When you enable timeline for base objects, state management and history are also enabled by default.
