Certain events, however, can cause discrepancies between the metadata and physical schema. For example, a database administrator might make changes directly to the database instead of using the Schema Manager in the
Hub Console
. Similarly, database corruption might result from a power outage or hardware failure. The

can help determine whether a discrepancy is inconsequential to

operations, or whether it can cause major disruptions.
