PreferredLanguage

PreferredLanguage

Informatica AddressDoctor Cloud supports multiple languages for some countries. When you validate addresses from countries for which Informatica AddressDoctor Cloud supports multiple languages, you can specify the language in which you want the result output.
PreferredLanguage
is the optional parameter that you can configure to specify the output language of certain address elements such as Locality or Province.
For multilanguage countries such as Belgium, Canada, and Switzerland, the reference address databases contain addresses or some of the address elements in multiple languages. For example, a reference address database might contain addresses in the following languages:
  • The main, spoken language of the region to which an address belongs. Typically, this is the default language of the address in the reference address database. For example, in the Switzerland reference address database, the default language for addresses from Zurich is German, from Geneva is French, and from Ticino is Italian.
  • English or any other language that Informatica AddressDoctor supports for an address. For example, German, French, and Italian in the Switzerland reference address database.
By default, Informatica AddressDoctor Cloud returns the addresses in the default language of the corresponding reference address database entry. To generate the output in one of the supported languages, set one of the following values for the
PreferredLanguage
parameter:
  • DATABASE
. To generate the result output in the default language that the corresponding reference address database entry uses. This is the default value for
    PreferredLanguage
    .
  • ENGLISH
. To generate the English names of province and locality. For example, if you set
    PreferredLanguage
to English, Informatica AddressDoctor Cloud replaces München in Germany addresses with Munich, and Bayern with Bavaria.
  • ALTERNATIVE_1
    ,
    ALTERNATIVE_2
    , or
    ALTERNATIVE_3
. To generate the output in one of the alternative languages in which reference address data is available. You can specify this option when you validate addresses from multilanguage countries such as Belgium, Canada, and Switzerland.
  • PRESERVE_INPUT
. To generate the output in the same language as that of the address input.
If you set
PreferredLanguage
to a language that is not available in the reference address database, the
Preferredlanguage
setting defaults to the DATABASE value. In such cases, Informatica AddressDoctor Cloud returns the output in the default language of the reference address database. In such cases, Informatica AddressDoctor Cloud returns an extended element result status (EERS) value of E. EERS value of E indicates that the output is in the database language because the reference database does not contain the information in the specified language
The language or format in which Informatica AddressDoctor Cloud returns the country name depends on the value you configure for the
CountryType
validation parameter.
If the input address contains an address element that the reference database does not contain, Informatica AddressDoctor Cloud copies the element to the result output. For such elements, Informatica AddressDoctor Cloud returns the information in the same language as that of the address input. An element input status value of 1 indicates that the reference address database does not contain the element. An element result status value of 1 indicates that Informatica AddressDoctor Cloud has copied the information from the input because the reference database does not contain the information.
