Create and Configure the Metadata Access Service

The Metadata Access Service is an application service that allows the Developer tool to access the Hadoop environment to import and preview metadata. If the domain uses non-Kerberos authentication, you can create and configure the Metadata Access Service. If the domain uses Kerberos authentication, don't choose to create the Metadata Access Service.

To create the Metadata Access Service, use the service creation wizard in the Administrator tool. When prompted, specify the required service information, such as the license, location, and the node on which the service can run.

In the Administrator tool, click the

Manage

tab.

Click the

Services and Nodes

view.

In the Domain Navigator, select the domain.

Click

New

Metadata Access Service

The

New Metadata Access Service

wizard appears.

New Metadata Access Service - Step 1 of 3

page, enter the following properties:

Property	Description
Name	Name of the service. Consider the following guidelines when you name the service: It is not case-sensitive. It must be unique in the domain. It can't exceed 128 characters. It can't begin with @. It can't contain the following special characters: ` ~ % ^ * + = { } \ ; : ' " / ? . , < > \| ! ( ) ] [ You can't change the name of the service after you create it.
Description	Description of the service. It can't exceed 765 characters.
Location	Domain and folder where the service is created. Click Browse to choose a different folder. You can move the service after you create it.
License	License object that allows use of the service.
Node	Node on which the service runs.
Backup Nodes	If your license includes high availability, nodes where the service can run if the primary node is unavailable.

Select the HTTP Protocol Type and enter the respective port number to use for the Metadata Access Service.

Accept the default values for the remaining security properties. You can configure the security properties after you create the Metadata Access Service.

Select

Enable Service

The Metadata Access Service does not have any other service dependency.

If applicable, specify the execution options for impersonation user, Kerberos cluster, logging options, and click

Click

Finish

The domain creates and enables the Metadata Access Service.
