Mapping Extraction

Metadata Manager extracts mappings differently based on the source system version that you use to create the resource.

Metadata Manager extracts mappings in the following ways based on the source system version:

Informatica Platform 10.1.1 HotFix2 (Repository), 10.1.1 HotFix1 (Repository), or 10.1.1 (Repository): If you create the resource from a version 10.1.1, 10.1.1 HotFix1, or 10.1.1 HotFix2 application that is deployed to a Data Integration Service, Metadata Manager extracts mappings that are deployed directly to the application. Metadata Manager also extracts mappings within deployed workflows. Metadata Manager displays the mappings in the metadata catalog within the Mappings logical group.

When Metadata Manager extracts a mapping within a workflow, it adds the workflow name and the Mapping task name to the mapping name as a prefix. For example, an application contains deployed workflow
wf_GetCustEmail
. The workflow contains a Start event, Mapping task
Mapping_Task_Cust
, and an End event. The Mapping task contains mapping
m_Cust
. Metadata Manager extracts this mapping as
wf_GetCustEmail/Mapping_Task_Cust/m_Cust
.
Informatica Platform 10.1 (Repository), Informatica Platform 10.0 (Repository), or Informatica Platform 9.5.1 - 9.6.x (Repository): If you create an Informatica Platform resource from a version 9.5.1 - 10.1 application that is deployed to a Data Integration Service, Metadata Manager extracts mappings that are deployed directly to the application. Metadata Manager does not extract mappings in deployed workflows. Metadata Manager displays the mappings in the metadata catalog within the Mappings logical group.
Informatica Platform 9.5.1 - 9.6.x (Archive File): If you create an Informatica Platform resource from a version 9.5.1 - 9.6.x application archive file, Metadata Manager extracts mappings that are deployed directly to the application. Metadata Manager does not extract mappings in deployed workflows.; If the mappings were created within a folder, Metadata Manager displays the mappings in the metadata catalog within the folder. If the mappings were created within a project but not within a folder, Metadata Manager displays the mappings within the Mappings logical group.
