Informatica Analyst Overview

Informatica Analyst Overview

Informatica Analyst (the Analyst tool) is a web-based client tool that is available to multiple Informatica products and is used by business users to collaborate on projects within an organization. For example, business analysts can use the Analyst tool to collaborate on data integration projects in an organization.
Use the Analyst tool to discover, define, and review the business logic for projects in an organization. The tasks that you can perform in the Analyst tool depend on the license for Informatica products and the privileges to perform tasks.
Based on the license that your organization has, you can use the Analyst tool to perform the following tasks:
  • Define business glossaries, terms, and policies to maintain standardized definitions of data assets in the organization.
  • Perform data discovery to find the content, quality, and structure of data sources, and monitor data quality trends.
  • Define data integration logic and collaborate on projects to accelerate project delivery.
  • Define and manage rules to verify data conformance to business policies.
  • Review and resolve data quality issues to find and fix data quality issues in the organization.
The Analyst Service manages the Analyst tool. The Analyst tool stores projects, folders, and data objects in the Model repository. The Analyst tool connects to the Model repository database to create, update, and delete projects, folders, and data objects.
When you create, update, and delete projects, folders, and data objects, the Analyst Service that manages the Analyst tool must be associated with the Model repository that stores the projects, folders, and data objects. Additionally, when you use the Developer tool client to open objects in the Analyst tool, the Analyst Service must be associated with the Model repository that stores the objects.
