PowerExchange CDC No Longer Requires SQL Server Management Objects

PowerExchange CDC No Longer Requires SQL Server Management Objects

Previously, PowerExchange CDC for Microsoft SQL Server sources required that you install the SQL Server 2008 Server Management Objects (SMO), Replication Management Objects (RMO), and some related packages, even if you used a later SQL Server version. Otherwise, you could not create or edit SQL Server capture registrations. Effective in PowerExchange 10.1, PowerExchange no longer requires these objects and packages.
Instead, PowerExchange 10.1 uses the DataDirect ODBC driver for SQL Server. For your convenience, when you install PowerExchange, the correct DataDirect ODBC driver for SQL Server is delivered to the
PowerExchange_root_installation
\ODBC7.1\Drivers
directory. No additional configuration is required.
This feature removes the need to perform a separate installation of the SQL Server 2008 SMO objects and packages and aligns PowerExchange with SQL Server 2012 deprecation of the RMO.
For more information, see the "Microsoft SQL Server CDC" chapter in the
PowerExchange CDC Guide for Linux, UNIX, and Windows
