Implementation Task Flow

Implementation Task Flow

To implement SAP HANA CDC, you need to complete some tasks in SAP HANA, PowerExchange, and PowerCenter. Use the following high-level task flow:
  1. Create capture registrations for the SAP HANA source tables with either the PowerExchange Navigator or the DTLUCBRG utility. For more information, see the
    PowerExchange Navigator User Guide
    and
    PowerExchange Utilities Guide
    .
  2. Install both an ODBC driver and a JDBC driver for use by the connection. For more information, see Preparing the SAP HANA Server for PowerExchange CDC.
  3. Prepare the SAP HANA database for data capture. For more information, see Preparing the SAP HANA Database for PowerExchange CDC.
  4. Configure the PowerExchange Logger.
  5. Materialize the target tables. Use any tool that you prefer. PowerExchange bulk data movement does not currently support SAP HANA sources. In some cases, you might also need to materialize the target tables.
  6. Start the PowerExchange Logger.
  7. Create workflows or extraction tasks to apply the data to the target:
    • Create PowerCenter CDC workflows that include the SAP HANA sources. Use an SAP HANA CDC application connection. You must cold start the CDC workflows.
    • Configure a PowerExchange for CDC Publisher task to move the data to a Kafka message stream. For more information, see the
      PowerExchange CDC Publisher User Guide.
