Implementation Task Flow

Implementation Task Flow

To implement SAP HANA CDC, you need to complete tasks in SAP HANA, PowerExchange, and PowerCenter, PowerExchange CDC Publisher, or Cloud Data Integration. Use the following high-level task flow:
  1. Create capture registrations for the SAP HANA source tables by using either the PowerExchange Navigator or DTLUCBRG utility. For more information, see the
    PowerExchange Navigator User Guide
     or
    PowerExchange Utilities Guide
    .
  2. Install both an ODBC driver and a JDBC driver for use by the connection. For more information, see Preparing the SAP HANA Server for PowerExchange CDC.
  3. Prepare the SAP HANA database for data capture. For more information, see Preparing the SAP HANA Database for PowerExchange CDC.
  4. Configure the PowerExchange Logger for Linux, UNIX, and Windows. For more information, see Configuring the PowerExchange Logger.
  5. Configure the PowerExchange dbmover configuration file and optional parameter file. For more information, see Configuring the dbmover Configuration File and Configuring a Parameter File with Additional Parameters for the HANA CAPI_CONNECTION.
  6. Materialize the target tables. Use any tool you prefer.
    PowerExchange bulk data movement does not support SAP HANA sources.
  7. Start the PowerExchange Logger. For more information, see Starting the PowerExchange Logger.
  8. To apply change data to the target, configure one of the following:
    • PowerCenter workflows
      . In PowerCenter, create CDC workflows that include SAP HANA sources and an SAP HANA CDC application connection. Note that you must cold start CDC workflows. For more information, see

    • PowerExchange CDC Publisher streams
      . In PowerExchange for CDC Publisher, configure a CDC stream that moves SAP HANA data to a target messaging system such as Apache Kafka. For more information, see the

    • Cloud Data Integration tasks
      . In Cloud Data Integration, configure a SAP HANA CDC connection, mapping, and mapping task. For more information, see Cloud Data Integration Connectors >
