Province Ports

Province Ports

Input ports that read province data from an address record set.
In address validation, a province is the largest political or administrative division in a country. For example, address validation identfies a state in the United States, a province in Canada, and a canton in Switzerland as provinces.
A Province port can read the full province name or the abbreviated name.

Province Usage

Select a Province port to read data that identifies the highest level of territory or region in a country, such as a state of the United States, from the input address data set.
Consider the following guidelines when you use Province ports:
  • There are six Province ports. Use Province 1 to identify the province. Use Province 2 to identify the primary subdivision in the province. For example, use Province 2 for county data in the United States. You may need to select a port in the Province 3 through Province 6 range if the province data is highly complex.
  • The mail carrier may not require the sub-province data. Or, you may configure sub-province level data on a locality port.
