Specify a Patch Deployment Strategy

Specify a Patch Deployment Strategy

Specify a patch deployment strategy to determine how you want to make the contents of an application patch available to end users depending on organizational policies.
You can deploy an application patch in the following ways:
  • Deploy to a Data Integration Service. When you deploy the patch to a Data Integration Service, the service automatically updates the corresponding incremental application based on the patch contents. Objects that are not impacted will continue running, and impacted objects will be updated with the patch contents.
  • Deploy to an archive file. When you deploy the patch to an archive file, you can save the patch as a file on your local machine, store the file in a version control system, and deploy the patch to a Data Integration Service at a later time.
Deploying a patch does not change the state of the application. For example, a stopped application does not begin running.
If you cancel the deployment, the Data Integration Service might partially apply the patch contents to the deployed application. Canceling deployment does not roll back the incremental application.
