Logical Grouping of Java Virtual Machines

Logical Grouping of Java Virtual Machines

Determine whether your business needs to create logical Java Virtual Machine (JVM) groups. When you deploy the Hub Server and Process Server applications in a logical JVM group, all communication between the applications stays within the group. To group JVMs, you assign a group ID to each JVM in the MDM Hub environment.
You can use logical JVM groups for the following scenarios:
  • You need multiple JVMs and want to use some JVMs as primary nodes and some as secondary nodes. You can use the secondary nodes for specific operations or when the primary nodes are overloaded. For example, you can configure a logical JVM group for primary processes and another group for secondary or backup processes.
  • You want to run multiple batch group jobs in parallel and want control over the available resources, such as threads. For example, you can create logical JVM groups for batch group jobs that run on the Party table and on the Address table.
  • You want to group similar processes. For example, you can create a logical JVM group for SIF API calls and another group for batch jobs.
