Configuring a Third-Party ODBC Data Source

Configuring a Third-Party ODBC Data Source

PowerCenter uses the powrmart.ini file to recognize the third-party ODBC driver, import the ODBC database object with third-party ODBC drivers, and to preview data in Designer. To import a source definition with an ODBC driver that is not included in the powrmart.ini file, configure the file on the PowerCenter Client machine.
  1. Open powrmart.ini in the following directory:
    <Informatica installation directory>\clients\PowerCenterClient\client\bin
  2. Add an entry to the file under the ODBCDLL section that includes the name of the ODBC data source.
Ensure that the entry directly points to
    pmodbc.dll
    or
    extodbc.dll
    .
  3. Save and close powrmart.ini.
  4. Restart the PowerCenter Client and import the source definition.
