Step 4. Set Up Path Environment Variables

Step 4. Set Up Path Environment Variables

To successfully load PowerExchange executable files and shared libraries at run time, edit the path and library path environment variables on the Linux or UNIX system to point to the directories where the files and libraries are installed.
Also, set the PWX_HOME environment variable so that PowerExchange can locate various run-time components.
The following table lists the Linux and UNIX environment variables that you need to set:
Variable
Platform
Example
PWX_HOME
All
PWX_HOME=/usr/pwxuser/v
vrm
PATH
All
PATH=/usr/pwxuser/v
vrm
LIBPATH
AIX
LIBPATH=/usr/pwxuser/v
vrm
LD_LIBRARY_PATH
Solaris
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/pwxuser/v
vrm
LD_LIBRARY_PATH
Linux
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/pwxuser/v
vrm
To verify that the environment variables are correct, log off and log in again.

What the heck does /usr/pwxuser/vvrm refer to? What is vvrm?

A more meaningful example would be PWX_HOME = <>

Is this what you mean by /usr/pwxuser/vvrm?

Hi Karl,

The example path should be a real-world example of a PowerExchange installation path, which it's not. The vvrm represents the letter v followed by the PowerExchange version, release, and modification level (see Step 1 of this install process). In the table, the same example is provided for all of the env variables. I expect that once is enough. I've updated the topic in the 10.5.3 Installation and Upgrade Guide here: https://docs.informatica.com/data-integration/powerexchange-for-cdc-and-mainframe/10-5-3/installation-and-upgrade-guide/installing-and-upgrading-powerexchange-on-linux-and-unix/performing-a-full-installation-on-linux-or-unix/installing-powerexchange-on-linux-or-unix/step-4--set-up-path-environment-variables.html
