Using Graphic View Filters

You can use the

Filter

button to set the type of information to display in the graphic view when you perform a search. A filter controls the type of relationships you see.

Filters apply to the data you already have in the display. It removes items that do not match the filter criteria.

Filters also apply to subsequent fetch operations (but not to subsequent Search operations). Only items that match the filter criteria are displayed.

To create a filter:

On the HM toolbar, click the

Filter

button.

The Filter Graph View screen is displayed.

Select and deselect the appropriate filter criteria in the Hierarchies, Relationship Type, and Relationship Directions lists. Use SHIFT-Click to select multiple items.

If needed, select a filter.

Filter	Description
Show Inactive Relationships	Displays relationships whose duration has expired. The inactive relationships are shown using dotted lines in the graphic view window, and with a red background in the list.
Perform Layout	Rearranges the entities and relationships using the selected layout. It also removes unconnected entities from the graphic view.
Hide Unconnected Entities	Removes unconnected entities from the graphic view.
Count relationships for leaf nodes	Calculates the total number of relationships for the leaf entities. If leaf entities have many relationships, un-check this option for better performance. A leaf node (or external node) is a node of a tree data structure that has zero child nodes.

When data is present in a display before you set a filter, setting a filter may remove relationships which do not match the filter criteria. It may also disconnect entities which previously connected to other items in the display, but now do not.
