Using the Search Box to Find Records

You can use the search box to perform search for records. You might want to search for records that you want to view, edit, or delete.

Your

Supplier 360

application must be configured to use Elasticsearch. When your application is configured to use Elasticsearch, you can search for records within a single business entity.

To find a record, enter a complete or partial search string in the Search box. A search string can include keywords, numbers, and operators. Stopwords, such as

, and

with

, are ignored in the search process.

You can use the wildcard operators

and

in the search strings. The

wildcard operator is a placeholder that matches zero or more characters. The

wildcard operator matches a single character.

The following table lists example search strings and explains how they function:

Example Search String	Search Behavior
John	Searches for records that contain John , such as John , John Smith , John Anderson , and John Anderson Smith .
John Smith	Searches for records that contain John or Smith or both John and Smith , such as John Smith and John Anderson Smith .
John Anderson Smith	Searches for records that contain at least two of the terms that constitute the search string, such as John Smith , John Anderson , and John Anderson Smith . When more than two terms constitute a search string, at least n-1 terms are present in the search results. In this example, at least 3-1 = 2 terms are present in the search results.
John*	Searches for records that contain a value that starts with John , such as Johnson and Johnny .
Jo*n	Searches for records that start with Jo and ends with n , such as Johansson and Jordan .
Al?k	Searches for records with a single character between Al and k , such as Alek and Alok .
Ale?	Searches for records with a single character after Ale , such as Alek and Alex .
Smith-Jones	Searches for records that contain both Smith and Jones , such as Smith-Jones and Smith Jones .
Dave&Smith	Searches for records that contain Dave&Smith , which contain the special character & . You can search for records that contain special characters, such as & , + , = , and ~ .
The Washington Post	Ignores the stopword The and searches for records that contain Washington , Post , or both Washington and Post .
