Configuring the Element Descriptor Format

Configuring the Element Descriptor Format

You can configure the
ElementAbbreviation
and
GlobalPreferredDescriptor
attributes to specify how
Informatica Address Verification
handles elements in general and element descriptors in particular in different countries. Find the attributes in the
Result
element of the
Parameters.xml
file.
  • To use standard abbreviations for all address elements, set the
    ElementAbbreviation
    attribute of the
    Result
    element to ON.
If the reference address database contains abbreviations for the elements, Address Verification uses the abbreviations instead of the expanded forms in the address output.
  • To specify the element descriptor format for addresses in Australia and New Zealand, you can optionally set the
    GlobalPreferredDescriptor
attribute to one of the following values:
    • DATABASE. Returns the descriptors in the default format from the reference data.
    • LONG. Returns the long form of the descriptors.
    • SHORT. Returns the short form of the descriptors.
    • PRESERVE_INPUT. Returns the descriptors in the format that the input address specifies.
    The
    GlobalPreferredDescriptor
    setting also applies to the
    Strasse
    element in Germany addresses.
    If you set
    GlobalPreferredDescriptor
to a value other than DATABASE, the
    GlobalPreferredDescriptor
    setting takes precedence over the
    ElementAbbreviation
setting for descriptors in the relevant countries.
