GeoCoding Types

You can configure Informatica Address Verification to add geocoordinates as an enrichment to a verified address. Geocoordinates indicate the longitude and latitude of an address. Address Verification follows the World Geodetic System standards (WGS 84) for geocoding.

You can enable geocoding at the global level and specify the type of geocoding that you want to receive in the output. To enable geocoding, install one or more geocoding databases.

You can configure Address Verification to return the following types of geocoordinates in the verified output:

Arrival Point GeoCoding: Arrival point geocoordinates map to a point in the center of the street segment in front of a house or a building. Arrival point is the default geocoding type.

To retrieve arrival point geocoding, install the Arrival Point database (
GCAP
) for the country in question. If the arrival point geocoordinates do not exist, Address Verification returns the standard geocoordinates. To fall back to the standard geocoordinates, you must install the standard geocoding (
GC
) database. Otherwise, Address Verification returns the EGC0 (no geocode available) status code for the address.
Standard GeoCoding: Standard geocoordinates are interpolated geocoordinates. Standard geocoding interpolates a point close to an address based on the geocoordinates of nearby addresses. For example, if the geocoordinates for the first and last houses on a street are available, Address Verification uses the known geocoordinates to interpolate the geocoordinates for a house that is situated in between. To retrieve standard geocoordinates, install the
GC
database for the country in question. The geocoding status codes EGC4 through EGC8 indicate the level of accuracy for the interpolated geocoordinates.
