Generating Tests for a Table Pair

You can generate count and value tests for an existing table pair.

In the Navigator, right-click the table pair and select

Generate Value Tests

Select whether to compare columns by name or position.

If you compare columns by position and you want to skip columns in one table, specify the number of columns to skip in the Skip First Columns field.

Click

Next.

The

Generate Value Tests

dialog box shows the tests that are going to automatically be generated based on the matched columns. A blue diamond appears next to each automatically generated test.

To manually match additional columns, drag a column in Table A to the matching column in Table B.

The following figure shows count and outer value tests for automatically matched columns and a value test for manually matched columns:

The dialog box shows the unmatched columns from each table. It also shows the tests that will be generated for the matched columns.

Click

Finish

Data Validation Option generates the count and value tests for the matched columns for the table pair.
