PowerExchange Condense Message Log Files

PowerExchange Condense Message Log Files

The files to which PowerExchange Condense writes messages depends on whether you enable alternative logging.
If you do
not
enable alternative logging, PowerExchange Condense writes messages to the DTLLOG member of the LOG file in the PowerExchange
datalib
library, by default. PowerExchange allocates this file if it does not exist. Because PowerExchange might write a lot of information to this file, Informatica recommends that you routinely use the CLRPFM command to clear the file contents and prevent the file from becoming too large.
If you enable alternative logging by specifying the TRACING statement in the DBMOVER configuration member, PowerExchange Condense writes messages to alternative message members in the JOB
job_number
file in the
datalib
library. The member names have the prefix that is specified in the PFX parameter of the TRACING statement. If you specify the APPEND parameter in the TRACING statement, whenever PowerExchange restarts, new messages are appended to the most recent message log member. You can control the size of an alternative log member by using the SIZE parameter in the TRACING statement. When an alternative log member becomes full, PowerExchange rotates to another alternative log member, which prevents out‑of‑space conditions. Also, PowerExchange buffers messages and writes them to the alternative log members on disk based on a specific flush interval. This type of buffered logging can reduce I/O activity on the log files.
