Storage Classifications Overview

Storage Classifications Overview

Storage classifications define the physical location where the smart partitioning process stores the data files for segments.
When you create a storage classification, you specify the source connection and one or more database mount points. If you are licensed to use the Oracle Hybrid Columnar Compression feature, you can enable the compression when you create the storage classification.
You can also designate a storage classification as the default storage classification. When you run a segmentation policy, the smart partitioning process creates the segments in the default storage classification unless you change the storage classification when you create the policy. You can specify the storage classification for each segment after you have generated the segmentation policy.
You can create multiple storage classifications to correspond to different storage tiers or disks. You can use a single storage classification for multiple segmentation groups.
