To create a business entity model, the first step is to create the root node for the business entity. For example, you can create a
Person
business entity associated with the base object C_PARTY in the MDM schema.
Click
Business Entity
Modeling
, and then select
Business Entities
.
Click
Create
.
A new root node appears among the business entities.
In the
Name
field, enter a name for the business entity.
For example, enter
Person
.
In the
Label
field, enter a display name for the business entity.
For example, enter
Person
.
Optionally, enter a description of the business entity.
Optionally, enable the
State Management Enabled
check box.
When this check box is enabled, the Repository Manager validation checks that all base objects in the business entity are enabled for state management, except referenced lookups.
In the properties panel, in the
Base Object
field, select a base object from the MDM schema to associate with the business entity.
For example, select the base object C_PARTY.
The base objects are created in the MDM Hub before you add root nodes to the business entity.
Optionally, configure the colors and icons for the business entity and individual records.
To configure a color to represent the business entity, in the
Color
field, click the color swatch icon, and then select a color.
To configure an icon to represent the business entity, in the
Business Entity Icon
field, select an icon source, and then configure the icon.
To specify a field where users can specify an icon to represent the record, in the
Business Entity Record Icon
field, select the field.
You must have a field in the business entity that uses a data type that supports images. For more information, see
Predefined Custom Data Types.
Click
Apply
.
The changes are saved but are not published to the MDM Hub.
