Security and Data Filters for Business Entities Overview
Security and Data Filters for Business Entities Overview
You can control access to business entity records by implementing the MDM Hub user roles.
You can control access to records at the following levels:
Entity-level security. Controls whether users have access to all or none of the records for a business entity.
Field-level data filters. Controls whether users have access to a record based on the value that appears in a field in the record.
Node-level data filters. Controls whether users have access to a parent record when a node has no child records.
Start by granting role privileges at the entity level, and then you can use field filters and node filters to refine that access.
A business entity view contains a subset of nodes and fields from a business entity. The view inherits the data filters from the business entity. Consider implementing business entity views to hide some fields from users. For more information, see the "Transforming Business Entities and Views" chapter.
The Data Director user interface adapts to the user role privileges. For example, if a user role cannot create a record based on the Person business entity, the user cannot select the business entity type when creating a record.
