The Generate CSR function allows you to create a signing request for your Certificate, that you will send to a
Certificate Authority (CA)
for signing. This function is needed if your trading partner(s) require your Certificates to be signed by a CA (not self-signed). Signed Certificates are also required for HTTPS web sites.
Follow the instructions below to generate a CSR:
From the main menu, select
Encryption
, and then click the
SSL Certificate Manager
link.
Select the
Open Key Store
button and choose a Key Store. Certificates are commonly created in the Default Private Keys Store.
In the
Certificate Manager
page, select the
icon for the Certificate and then click the
Generate CSR button. If no Certificates exist, create a SSL Certificate.
Using the File Download box, save the file on your local computer. The file name is constructed by the system using the Certificate's Alias with a .csr extension.
Send this file to a Certificate Authority (CA) for signing.
The Certificate Authority (CA) will review your CSR and return a reply. The reply will contain the
digital signature
of the CA. This reply can be imported using the Import CA Reply function.
