Creating a Connection

Create a connection to access a compute cluster, database, enterprise application, file system, nonrelational database, NoSQL database, social media application, or web service. Create the connection before you import physical data objects, preview data, profile data, or run mappings.

Preferences

Select the type of connection that you want to create:

To select a non-web services connection, select

To select a web services connection, select

Connections

Expand the domain in the

Available Connections

list.

Select a connection type in the

Available Connections

list, and click

Add

The

New <Connection Type> Connection

dialog box appears.

Enter the following information:

Property	Description
Name	Name of the connection. The name is not case sensitive and must be unique within the domain. It cannot exceed 128 characters, contain spaces, or contain the following special characters: ~ ` ! $ % ^ & * ( ) - + = { [ } ] \| \ : ; " ' < , > . ? /
ID	String that the Data Integration Service uses to identify the connection. The ID is not case sensitive. It must be 255 characters or less and must be unique in the domain. You cannot change this property after you create the connection. Default value is the connection name.
Description	Optional description for the connection.
Location	Domain in which the connection exists.
Type	Specific connection type, such as Oracle, Twitter, or Web Services.
