Updating the Search Index

Updating the Search Index

Metadata Manager creates index files used to search for metadata objects in the Metadata Manager warehouse. When you perform a search, Metadata Manager searches the index files instead of the Metadata Manager warehouse.
The index files are binary files. Metadata Manager stores them in the location that you configured for Metadata Manager files when you created the Metadata Manager Service. By default, Metadata Manager stores the index files in the following location:
<Informatica installation directory>\services\MetadataManagerService\mm_files\<service name>
When you make a change in Metadata Manager that changes the metadata in the warehouse, Metadata Manager creates or updates index files. You can also update the index files manually through the
Configure Search Index
window.
You can perform the following tasks in the
Configure Search Index
window:
Optimize the index.
Optimize the index when search performance is degraded. When you optimize the index, Metadata Manager creates a single index file for each resource, which increases search performance.
Manually create indexes.
Manually create indexes if the indexing operation fails during a resource load, if you change the Metadata Manager file location in the Administrator tool, or if you update the list of words to ignore in searches.
