Registration Statuses

Registration Statuses

In the CCT file, the status code determines whether a registration is available for use. The CCT file can contain the following status codes:
  • A
. Active. The registration is available for use by the PowerExchange Logger for Linux, UNIX, and Windows, the PowerExchange Logger for z/OS, PowerExchange Condense, or a z/OS ECCR.
  • H
. History. The registration was active but now it is no longer in use because its status was changed to History.
  • I
. Inactive or "not yet used." You can create registrations with the Inactive status and then change them to an Active status later.
  • S
. Suspended. This status applies only to certain z/OS database types such as Adabas, Datacom, IDMS, and log-based IMS. A suspended registration is temporarily disabled for change capture use. The ECCRs ignore updates for the registered source during the suspension window. Typically, registrations are suspended before performing database maintenance or large cascade-delete operations. The PowerExchange Logger for Linux, UNIX, and Windows and PowerExchange Condense continue to read any change data that the ECCRs already captured before the suspension started. After the suspension window ends, you must restore the status back to A for the registrations to be used for change data capture again.
Also, PowerExchange uses the following status codes in PWXUCREG parameters and messages but not in the CCT file:
  • C
. Cancel Suspend. This value is passed in SQL when the PWXUCREG CANCEL_SUSPEND_REGISTRATION command is issued to cancel a prior request to suspend registrations for certain z/OS source types.
  • D
. Drop Old Data. This value is passed in SQL when the PWXUCREG DROP_OLD_REGISTRATION_DATA command is issued to set a special suspension window for certain types of z/OS database sources.
  • L
. Live. This value is passed in SQL when the PowerExchange Logger for Linux, Unix, or Windows or PowerExchange Condense retrieves registrations that have the status of A or S. It can also be used in the PWXUCREG DISPLAY_REGISTRATION command that displays registration status information.
  • N
. Not Live. This value is passed in SQL when a PWXUCREG DELETE_INACTIVE_REGISTRATION command is issued to delete inactive registrations from the capture environment and when the DISPLAY_REGISTRATION command is issued to retrieve and process registrations that the status of H and I.
  • R
. Reset timestamp. This value is passed in SQL when a PWXUCREG RESET_SUSPENSION_WINDOW command is issued to clear any activation and suspension timestamps that define the current suspension window for certain z/OS database types.
