Record Properties - Name

Record Properties - Name

View or edit properties for a record.
You can edit the record name. For IMS, SEQ, and VSAM records, you edit some additional properties.
Record Name
Required. A user-defined record name.
Maximum length is 256 characters.
Valid characters are ASCII characters and the pound and yen sign.
Segment Name
For IMS DL/1 batch or ODBA. Required. The name of the segment from the IMS DBD.
Variable Length
For IMS DL/1 batch or ODBA. Select this option if the specified segment is a variable-length segment.
Default is cleared.
Parent Segment Name
For IMS DL/1 batch or ODBA. The name of the parent segment.
Root Segment
For IMS DL/1 batch or ODBA. Positions the specified segment directly beneath the root segment.
Clear this option to enter a parent segment name in the
Parent Segment Name
box.
Default is cleared.
Parent Record Name
Optional for SEQ or VSAM. Select the parent record name. You cannot select the currently selected record, any children of the currently selected record, any records that redefine a base record, or any trailer or header records.
Redefines Record Name
Optional for SEQ or VSAM. Select the name of the base record that the current record redefines. You cannot select the currently selected record or any records that redefine a base record.
If the record is redefined by another record, this option is disabled.
Header/Trailer Record
Optional for SEQ or VSAM. Select
HEADER
or
TRAILER
. The caching algorithm that runs on the PowerCenter Integration Service machine uses this value to improve the performance of multiple-record write operations.
If a record is identified as being a parent, this option is disabled.
