Viewing or Editing Properties for a Capture Registration

Viewing or Editing Properties for a Capture Registration

After you register a source for change capture, you can edit some capture registration properties.
The following properties can be edited:
  • Status
. For all source types, you can change the status setting for a capture registration. The PowerExchange Navigator allows the following status transitions: Inactive to Active, Active to History, and Suspended to History. You must use the PWXUCREG utility to change a registration status from Active to Suspended and from Suspended back to Active.
  • Condense
. For all source types, you can change the Condense option for a capture registration from None to Part or from Part to None. For i5/OS and z/OS data sources that have keys, you can also change the Condense option from None or Part to Full or from Full or None to Part.
  • Comments
. For all source types, you can add or edit comments for the capture registration.
For a DB2 data source, you can also add or remove columns.
If you need to make any other changes to a capture registration, you must re-create the registration.
Editing an active capture registration can have various implications to CDC.
  1. Open the registration group.
  2. Open the capture registration.
The following tables describes the properties that the
    Capture Registration
    tab in the
    Resource Inspector
displays, depending on the data source type, for the capture registration.
The following table describes the properties that the
    Capture Registration
    tab in the
    Resource Inspector
displays for all data source types:
    Property
    Description
    Name
Read only. The user-defined name for the capture registration.
    Type
Read only. The PowerExchange capture type. Options are:
    • Log-Based
. PowerExchange captures changes from database logs.
    • Synchronous
. PowerExchange captures changes in a synchronous manner.
    Status
The status of the capture registration with regard to availability for change capture use. Options are:
    • Inactive
. PowerExchange cannot yet use the registration to capture changes for the source. This option is the initial status setting when you create the registration. You must manually set the option to Active to make the registration eligible for change capture use.
    • Active
. PowerExchange can use the registration to capture changes for the source.
    • History
. PowerExchange has permanently stopped using the registration for change capture. Select this option if the registration is obsolete and you want to retain it for audit purposes or delete it. After you set the status to History, you cannot make the registration active again.
    • Suspended
. PowerExchange change capture processing is temporarily suspended for the registered source. This status is set by the PWXUCREG utility SUSPEND_REGISTRATION command and is available only for an Adabas, Datacom table-based, IDMS log-based, or IMS log-based CDC source. You can change this status to History from the PowerExchange Navigator. However, to change this status back to Active, you must use the PWXUCREG utility ACTIVATE_REGISTRATION command.
For more information, see Status Options.
    Suspend Time
Read only. The current system timestamp, without adjustment for local time, that indicates when the PWXUCREG utility SUSPEND_REGISTRATION command was processed to temporarily suspend the registration for change capture use. The timestamp format is YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS.ssssss, where ssssss are fractional seconds. This property is blank if the registration has never been suspended.
This property is displayed for Adabas, Datacom table-based, IDMS log-based, and IMS log-based CDC sources because the PWXUCREG utility supports only these sources. This property is not displayed for any other source types.
For more information about the PWXUCREG suspension time, see the
    PowerExchange Utilities Guide
    .
    Active Time
Read only. The current system timestamp, without adjustment for local time, that indicates when the PWXUCREG utility ACTIVATE_REGISTRATION command was processed to reactivate the registration for change capture use. The timestamp format is YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS.ssssss, where ssssss are fractional seconds.
This field is blank if the registration status was set to
    Active
for the first time from the PowerExchange Navigator or if the registration has never been activated or reactivated with the PWXUCREG utility. This field remains blank until you issue a PWXUCREG utility SUSPEND_REGISTRATION command followed by an ACTIVATE_REGISTRATION command.
This property is displayed for Adabas, Datacom table-based, IDMS log-based, and IMS log-based CDC sources because the PWXUCREG utility supports only these sources. This property is not displayed for any other source types.
For more information about the PWXUCREG activation time, see the
    PowerExchange Utilities Guide
    .
    Condense
Whether PowerExchange Condense or the PowerExchange Logger for Linux, UNIX, and Windows is used and the type of PowerExchange Condense processing on i5/OS or z/OS. Options are:
    • None
. PowerExchange does not use PowerExchange Condense or the PowerExchange Logger for Linux, UNIX, and Windows to process changes for the registered source.
    • Part
. PowerExchange uses PowerExchange Condense or the PowerExchange Logger to process changes for the registered source. PowerExchange Condense uses partial condense processing. This option maintains transactional consistency and is recommended by Informatica.
    • Full
. PowerExchange uses PowerExchange Condense full condense processing for
      i5/OS
      or
      z/OS
sources but some limitations apply. This option does not maintain transactional consistency.
For more information, see Condense Options.
    Version
Read only. The registration version number.
    Capture Type
Read only. The data source type.
    Comments
User-defined comments about the capture registration.
    Tag
Read only. A PowerExchange-generated tag name that is assigned to the registered source and that is used to identify the change records of CDC interest.
