Connecting to Databases

Connecting to Databases

To connect to databases from the Designer, use the Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator to create a data source for each database you want to access. Select the data source names in the Designer when you perform the following tasks:
  • Import a table or a stored procedure definition from a database.
Use the Source Analyzer or Target Designer to import the table from a database. Use the Transformation Developer, Mapplet Designer, or Mapping Designer to import a stored procedure or a table for a Lookup transformation.
To connect to the database, you must also provide your database user name, password, and table or stored procedure owner name.
  • Preview data.
You can select the data source name when you preview data in the Source Analyzer or Target Designer. You must also provide your database user name, password, and table owner name.
