Assigning Advanced Generation Rules to Columns

Assigning Advanced Generation Rules to Columns

Assign advanced generation rules to one or more target columns to generate data in the columns.
  1. In the
    Define | Data Generation
    view, click the
    Generation Rule
    column for the column in which you want to assign the advanced rule.
  2. Select the advanced generation rule from the list.
    The
    Advanced Rule Assignment
    dialog box appears with the list of table columns in the left panel and rule columns in the right panel.
  3. Select a table input column from the left panel and a rule input column from the right panel.
    When you select a table input column, the rule ports with same data type become available for mapping.
  4. Click the
    Link
    icon to create a mapping.
    An arrow appears that links the source port to the rule port.
    To create a mapping, you can also click
    Show Simple
    and map the ports.
  5. If you specified a parameter input port or if you do not have input ports in the advanced rule, you do not need to map the input columns.
  6. If you need to remove the link, select the source input port and the rule input port. Click the
    Unlink
    icon.
    The arrow between the ports disappears.
  7. After you map the rule input ports, click
    Next
    .
  8. Select a rule output port in the left panel and a table output column in the right panel.
  9. Click the
    Link
    icon to create a mapping. To remove a mapping, click the
    Unlink
    icon.
  10. If you configured to group the child records based on a foreign key in the variable column of the advanced rule, you must select the foreign key column.
  11. Click
    Save
    .
