Hierarchies

Hierarchies

Data stewards define hierarchy data using HM. Hierarchy Manager hierarchies are sets of relationship types. These relationship types are not ranked based on the place of the entities of the hierarchy, nor are they necessarily related to each other. They are merely relationship types that are grouped together for ease of classification and identification. For example, you might group
organization-to-individual
and
organization-to-community
relationships under the hierarchy Scholarships.
Another common example is a hierarchy based on the source system from which the relationship record came. For example, you might have
Org-Customer
relationship type in both Siebel and SAP hierarchies.
The association between relationship types and hierarchies is
many-to-many
. The same,
non-relationship
type can belong to multiple hierarchies and a hierarchy can have multiple relationship types. Foreign key relationship types can only belong to one hierarchy. A relationship record can have only one relationship type and hierarchy.
